In our Summer 2014 issue, we feature an article, "Garbed in the Garden," sharing some breathtaking examples of floral artists inspired to create gowns, shoes, and other accessories from flowers, grasses, and other organic materials. One of these exquisitely talented artists is Zita Elze. A few teasers not appearing in the issue can be seen below, including a wonderful video of Zita and her team creating one of her gowns.
So we love Lord Whimsy, who's now writing a regular column of gentlemanly advice for Faerie Magazine. In our Mermaids issue, he gave invaluable advice to young men looking to pick up mermaids. In our Spring issue, he offered a gardener's guide to faerie husbandry, and he has something new in store for us for the Summer issue we're working on now (and which you can pre-order here)!
And today, this dashing author releases his new book, Whitman Illuminated: Song of Myself, with Tin House. The book was a labor of love, each of its 256 pages written out and illustrated by hand. We think it's gorgeous. Here's a sneak peek at some of its sumptuous pages:
So we all spent last weekend at the annual Spoutwood Festival in Glen Rock, Pennsylvania, and as usual hosted some special guests in the Faerie Magazine tent. This year it was legendary artists Charles Vess and Charles de Lint
and the inimitable Twig the Fairy
-- who charmed all the caped and winged and horned and elf-eared visitors ... and even the occasional fairy dog:
